The real camp spirit begins

Today was fabulous as everyone finally got into the camp spirit!! All the rest of the staff arrived and then we had an orientation and were put into 'families'. Love, faith, humility, honesty and courage  are the 5 families that camp staff get put into and we complete challenges and do different jobs in these groups. I was put into the group 'love' as you can see from the photos it was a pretty scary looking ceremony that involved being blindfolded, fire and getting paint splashed on your face but it was fun and pretty hilarious!! After we went and made a big bonfire and sang camp songs and prayed... It was a surreal experience like something from the movies!! has such a great day but so tired now:)

beautiful Independent women

Hey everyone! I'm making some amazing friends here especially the kitchen crew... We had 'circle time' last night because everyone is starting to miss home and people needed to let their feelings out! Lots of laughing and crying but it was fun and everyone feels loads better today. Today I worked from 7.30am till 2pm, had a nap then dinner which was fish and brown rice ( it was delicious!!). Today was the first day we didn't play volleyball because it was abit cold ahaha (20 degrees). Still went to the gym for a workout though so feel good...

Same as usual

Pretty much did the same as usual today apart from the fact I slept in for once (yes till 10.30am)!! Went to the gym and I finally have some pictures to put up of that!! Then I did the evening shift with my new roommate Anna and ended the night by playing volleyball. Now watching 'despicable me'! Posts are probably going to become less frequent now because they are getting abit samey...will update soon ....

Did some proper work today 😉

Today I worked from 8am till 2pm ( yes some proper work!!) and then went to the gym with Judy (part of the kitchen crew and roomie)  and she worked me to the death but I felt amazing after 😀. I've posted some pictures of the platters we made which look fab! After dinner which was chicken, brown rice and sweet corn (yum!) We met our new roommate also part of the kitchen crew called Anna ... She is also lovely😊. Another game of volleyball as per usual to end the day but it ended too soon as Joseph ( a lifeguard) hurt his ankle!! Going to catch some Zzzzz's now. Speak tomorrow !

I don't ever want to leave this place

Another amazing day full of making memories, working hard and having fun in the sun :) I finally got some pictures of us all playing volleyball !! Also the kitchen staff and I have been going to the staff gym and doing aerobics and sit ups etc...   Feeling much fitter and healthier. To end the day we (the kitchen crew) went to the 'K rock' (as described in my last post), took some music and dipped our feet in the water and had a bit of dance on the beach which is pretty scary at night but still beautiful.

Just been busy relaxing in the sun

Yesterday was another day off so we literally just went to the beach and sunbathed, read books and played volleyball (I will put some pictures up of volleyball when I actually take some!). Watched the beautiful sunset again then saw a movie! I also managed to have a five hour nap between all of that!!😂 sleeping patterns are completely normal we usually go to bed about 11 and get up between 8 and 9am. Will post about today's antics later on.

Day off!

Today I had from about 10am onwards off and was feeling pretty tired after last night !! I managed to get the kitchen crew, the lifeguards and Jordan to have a sober dance off last night... It was the funniest thing ever I will post videos on Facebook later on. We went into greenport and visited a 'thrift shop' where I bought a tourism book about New York for one dollar (yes!! About 60p)! Then had a slice of pizza which was huge  and went to the 'movies'. I also bought my first purchase which is a proper cowgirl hat of which I am not taking off for the duration of being here. Also went to the beach which was stunning :). Have done so much in one day off and we have another day off tomorrow !! Loving life so much but really starting to miss friends and family. Howdy everyone ;)

First shift

It's Saturday here and it's nearly been a whole week at camp! Loving every minute of it :)  Today I had my first shift from 7.30am to 11.00am.. It was fun! The chef is really nice and the jobs are simple and easy! Plus I get two days off per week and don't have to work more than 8hrs a day. Played volleyball with the lifeguards and Jordan and I think I am getting better.... :/ Also had meatloaf for the first time (it was so tasty) and went for our nightly viewing of the sunset which seems to change every night . The kitchen crew are crazy but I love them to bits. We have even made our own song in preparation for the talent show ;) . Watch this space .

another fab day at camp.

Today I did some various jobs around the camp including gardening! (Would you believe I'm a gal of many talents :p). Then some more free time until I met the chef Chris this afternoon and did some exploring of the kitchen. Went for icecream (sherbert flavour it was yummy!!) and watched the sunset (this is going to become a nightly thing) and now chilling with everyone watching movies. I love it here!! It's so carefree, sunny and chilled. The perfect way to spend summer!

Free time today

Today we had some free time to do as we please so I took a walk along the beach, did some reading and just generally explored the camp. Managed to hurt myself already, fell off a golf buggy and bruised and scraped one side of my body (typical!). Then the kitchen gang and I went to watch the sunset ... It was so stunning !! Just another day at Quinipet.

Cabin and Roomies

After unpacking I met my beautiful roomies Martina, Judith and Daina :) and then met some of the other staff and we went for Mexican food ( I had no idea what to order so had a salad). Then we came back and played some volleyball , went for a evening swim in the ocean and now playing board games! Had the best day ever this is seriously paradise :) will catch up soon.
