Home

So this is my last ever post!! I'm finally home with the family and it feels so good.  I'm missing the buzz that NYC had though,it was addictive. I nearly burst into tears where I saw my mum at arrivals  I have really missed her :)

I miss friends from camp already, it seems so weird not living with my girls anymore ( you know who you are!). I have my own room and I was greeted with this ...
What a luxury! However jet lag is messing me up so much it's 3.20 and I'm wide awake :'(.
Thanks to everyone that's been following this blog, it's really made it worthwhile 💜

It was very tiring, especially when I had to come back and resume packing.
Going to bed because I have to be up in 4 hrs. Night all!

Day 4

Thursday September 4th
On our itinerary for today was the 9/11 memorial, the high line, the flat iron building and the public library. We completed all of these visits and took time to appreciate it all ( it was a total of 12 hrs non stop !!).
The 9/11 memorial and museum was very moving and I recommend that everyone should go and see that at least once in their lives, because it truely captures what happened that frightful morning. The bravery and resilience of the American people in response to the terror attacks is clear throughout the museum. The waterfalls where the world trade centres stood are stunning.
We then moved onto the highline park which is where the overground trains used to be. The tracks have now been turned into an overground park which is incredibly striking :) We ate our lunch ( I had chicken pie it was tasty!) overlooking the Hudson River which is near to where the park is situated.
After staying at the park for an hour we took a stroll and saw the flat iron building on our way to the public library...
And then we spent around 1 hr at the public library, enjoying the architecture and peace. The feeling was similar to how I felt in shelter island but as soon as you step out of that library you are faced with the non stop NYC buzz, it really is the city that never sleeps.
Our final thing for today was Madame Tussaud's which as you can imagine was very entertaining. I met many famous people including...

George Cloony
Taylor launtner
Will smith
Justin Timberlake
Beyoncé
The spice girls
The Beatles

And my personal favourite Michelle and Barack Obama...
I also played president for a short while :)
After leaving, we returned to the hotel and I began packing my stuff!
One last day in NYC where has that time gone?!? Fifth avenue tomorrow... See y'all soon.

Day 3

Wednesday 3rd September
Another busy day it was today ! We were up by 8am and had departed from the hotel after a cosy breakfast at 9. Today was Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island day. It was on the outskirts of Manhattan so we took the metro then the south ferry to liberty island ( a lady from the hotel who was leaving gave us her metro passes for free!!).
After learning some history from an audio tour we grabbed a drink and sat down to enjoy the surrounding views of liberty island which is a very clean and enjoyable place to visit ( I recommend!). We then visited the nearby Ellis Island...
(Hello kitty joined us on the trip and her friend octopussy).
We returned on the metro and took a trip to the natural history museum but only had one hour before it was closed. We still got to see some awesome exhibitions including the evolution of humans and many dinosaur fossils and skeletons.
We then returned to the hotel and got ready for the evening where went to Times Square!! It was so fun, I got a caricature done for $5, it is actually a pretty funny picture
We had a ramble around Times Square enjoying the scenery and buzz. Also popping into the Hershey's store and M&M shop while we were at it :)
After ( yes the day is still going on!) we went to the souvenir shop where I managed to haggle down the prices before and the young Indian guy that was working there was convinced I was going to be his wife... Little did he know I was just flirting to get the prices down and we got such a good deal! And finally we ended the day (or night shall I say!) at the famous 'Cake Boss' shop on 8th avenue where I had a carrot cake and Judy and Martina had NY cheesecake! It was sooooo good and totally worth the extra few dollars.
So tired it's 2am here! Goodnight all and see you soon.

Day 2 of NYC

Tuesday 2nd of September-
Wow it has been non stop since I got to NYC so I haven't been able to write. On Tuesday our first stop was the Rockerfeller centre where we visited the 'top of the rock', the views were phenomenal and it really was a shocking realisation for me as I was looking out at the beauty of New York , how far I have come this summer and it has nearly ended!
After visiting the top, we took an art history tour around the Rockerfeller and surrounding buildings such as radio hall and wow just wow it was so interesting! I'm not going to lie I thought it was going to be very boring but it was so fascinating learning about how NYC has evolved throughout the years. Our tour guide was called Patrick and he was wild (here is our selfie with him).
Moving on, in the afternoon we had some street food ( I had falafel and rice, it was yummy) by a pretty fountain on 6th avenue...
Then continued on to MOMA (museum of modern art). It was the most boring experience of my life, some of these pieces of art were shocking in my view...
(The museum bought this pile of bricks for $4 million)
On the bright side we saw the famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh 'starry night' which was beautiful...
And also many famous pieces of art by Andy Warhol...
I was glad to leave that museum I must say!!
We returned to the hotel to get some rest and food and at around 8.30pm got a taxi to the Empire State Building where we enjoyed the views of the New York skyline from the top. At night it is stunning as the whole of the city is lit up. The contrast with the view from Rockerfeller complimented our day nicely, although it was very windy at the top!
We did so much in one night we were totally shattered! I will update again soon.
